People Are Talking: UMS presents Cheikh Lô at The Michigan Theater:

  • I loved this performance! The audience was clearly loving it and I really enjoyed that the audience was dancing in the aisles. The energy was tangible and I left with a feeling of sheer happiness. Thank you so much UMS for such a great performance!

  • People Are Talking: UMS presents The San Francisco Symphony American Mavericks Festival:

  • I am so thankful to be living in a city that brings such talent and innovation as the San Francisco symphony’s maverick tour. I was so honored to be able to participate in the Bates’ “Mass Transmission” and it was so cool to be able to work hand in hand with the composer, watching his dreams come to life was certainly an experience that will not be forgotten. I also loved the Cowell piece in the first performance. Mr. Denk performed the work with such conviction and musicality there were many times that I forgot that he was playing with his arms or elbows! I was surprised how melodic this piece was in many parts and I enjoyed watching Mr. Denk. He seemed like he was loving every moment that he was playing! Thank you UMS for bringing the San Francisco Symphony to us! What a treat!

  • People Are Talking: UMS presents The Andersen Project by Robert Lepage at The Power Center:

  • I was blown away by this production of The Anderson Project. Yves Jacques was stellar and I was so impressed with the way he embodied each individual character. I also loved the use of technology and the innovative props and scenery. As someone who sat in the balcony I really appreciated the use of the video on Mr. Jacques’ face throughout the show. It helped me as an audience member to connect even more to raw and incredible emotion that he exhibited. I would definitely recommend this show as well as would love to see it again. Thank you so much UMS for bringing this show to Ann Arbor!

  • People Are Talking: UMS presents The Tallis Scholars at The St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church:

  • I enjoyed hearing the Tallis Scholars perform, especially the work by Gesualdo. I was really moved by the way he wrote the music to reflect the words which gave the pieces a depth and drama that I did not expect from this genre of music. I agree with those above that it would have been interesting to have heard some of his secular music which fits the “renegade” theme much more.
