How was the concert? Did you go to the post-show dance party?

To my husband and I (older people), it was an amazing concert, full of .life and love and understanding. Watching Baaba Maal and his group was a great experience. We wish that the party had taken place at the Michigan theater ( as opposed to the Union) we definitely would have stayed and continued our dancing. It would probably have been easier at the Theater to promote the understanding that Mr Maal was advocating. Non students do not like to go to other venues.
The generosity of Mr Maal towards other performers who jumped on the stage uninvited and to the audience who danced with him the whole way, was amazing. We hope that you will bring the group back another time and will return with many friends in tow. Try bringing Yousou N' Dour as well….Thank you

Fantastic concert! I really enjoyed Baaba's explanation of the importance of music in their village; he had described how musicians gather slowly in the middle of the village most nights to play and dance together as a community. Not only did he explain it but he invited us to experience it in the theater as our own spontaneous community, crossing race and culture in a way that I had not really known. Thanks to Baaba and his band for coming, to UMS for bringing him, and to my fellow audience members for letting go and just dancing and celebrating together. WELL DONE!

saturday night baaba maal was at the michigan theater in ann arbor. he brought with him 8 musicans. baaba began in robes of red & gold , sat & played an acoustic prayer. then the stage exploded into a primal transcendental celebration of warriors , holy men & hunter-gatherers. ive waited 10 years to see baaba maal. it was worth it. ameen brother!

The Baaba Maal concert was one of the best concerts I have attended. It was more than a concert, it was a beautiful experience. I wish people who would pay $175.00 to see acts like Lady Gaga could have and opportunity to see something like this.
